I learned...

I learned that a) it can be fun to take your self portraits and b) it's totally true that it takes some time to warm up during a shoot. The first pictures aren't nearly as creative as the ones at the end of a session!

These are from the end of my mini self portraits session. I turned on some music and had fun!

It's fun to eat cheese!

I'm not even going to attempt to get caught up on my themed days, lets just count this week as a giant fail in that department :) So these were taken earlier in the week when we were still eating dairy products. I was trying to get some cute photos of her and all I was getting was the lovely blank stare and then all of a sudden a switch went off and she turned on her charm. I just loved this little series, she can be quite the little entertainer when she wants. And then it cracks me up, all of a sudden she's done and she makes sure to tell me too! All Done is the only sign language we have taught her and she sure knows how to use it well :)

Funky Friday

Yeah it's Friday! So as y'all can see Friday is 'Funky Friday' in an attempt to humble myself each week I will post a picture that wasn't quite a success. I'm pretty sure every one of us have sessions where we just totally botch a picture, normally we'd just delete them and forget that it even happened. Instead I'm going to publicly show my faults as a way to encourage others out there that it's completely normal to have this happen and show that it's images like these that help us learn.
So first off, this picture was not from this week, but this last weekend but hopefully I'll be better with my camera next week :) This is SOOC, truthfully the lighting and colors look great for being SOOC but I'm fairly certain y'all can see my major mistake. Sorry Toni, I chopped your head off!!! Had I gotten off my lazy bum and taken a step back I would have gotten her entire head in the shot and then I could have used this to show off our momma's afternoon out. Oh well, lesson learned :)
By the way, Toni, you totally should have gotten those adorable flats!!

Thankful Thursday

While I know I should take to the time each day to be thankful it's nice to have a day in the week specifically phocused on being thankful, so that is Thursday for me!

From the moment I was pregnant with Brooklyn I envisioned me and my child having story time and prayed that she too would share my love for reading. Before every nap, from the time she was 3 months old I would read to her. At first she would cry through the entire book because she new it meant it was naptime, but now, now she sits there patiently in my lap as I read 3 short books to her, sucking her thumb and twirling her hair. And just incase that alone doesn't make me thankful, I know this does, the site of my baby girl in her room prefering to sit surrounded by her books, reading to herself :) It just warms my heart when I hear her in there. She will open a book and then I hear, 'guh guh guh' her version of reading aloud :) And you know that she is content and happy when she takes a break to suck that thumb of hers and twirl the hair on the top of her head. So yes, I am so thankful that I have a child that loves her books...

2 for Tues

Hello blog world! So I'm finally making a commitment to getting back to my responsibilities :) Actually I've been very busy with my toddler responsibility but thats no excuse! So today I'm going to start one of my photo themed days. I'm not quite sure I can commit to the 365 project so for now I've created 5 fun daily photo themes and will give that a go first.

Today is 2 for Tues, the idea being a picture of me and my little miss doing something together every tuesday. When making our Christmas cards I discovered just how few of pictures I'm actually in. While most of us photographers get behind the camera because we infact don't like being on the other side, I actaully love seeing photos of myself (so vain I know). What can I say, for me photos are so emotional and I like seeing that I was a piece of that moment.

I guess this photo is really a 3 for tues since the Dude snuck into the photo :) I'm having issues getting my tripod to work so I had to improvise, with my hands full :) Brooklyn is constantly wanting up and down and while it drives me crazy, seeing my content angel like that just melts my heart...

So it's a horrible photo technically but its a photo none the less :)

Happy Tuesday! It is tuesday right? ;)
